Summer time blooms

Profusion Zinnias

Butterfly Weed

Pincushion flower

Butterfly Bush

Perennial hibiscus

Garden phlox

Coreopsis

Homestead verbena

Monarda

These are a few of the plants that are blooming in my garden right now. The profusion zinnia is a great little annual that blooms all summer long. The butterfly weed is a plant I put in this spring and has done very well. Truthfully, I don't see as many butterflies on it as much as I thought I would. The pincushion flower is a great perennial. It stayed ever green all winter and has bloomed for several months. I have two butterfly bushes that were going to be thrown away at work so I saved them. They haven't grown much but are blooming good. The hibiscus has bloomed off and on since planting it this spring. It wasn't very big when I first planted it but has bushed out well. The garden phlox, coreopsis, homestead verbena and monarda were all saved from the garbage at work. The phlox was planted last fall and has bloomed pretty good. The other 3 were planted this spring and have done exceptionally well.

Your rescue plants are doing well Susie and blooming beautifully. :) I love the variety of color you have in your garden.

Hi Susie,
How neat it is that not only do you save plants that otherwise would die, but you get to have a great looking garden at a price that can't be beat!!

P.G.-I guess I do have a variety of color in my beds. But to look at my backyard as a whole, it doesn't look colorful at all. My yard is jumbo in size. I'm thinking about cutting it in half with the use of shrubs. Maybe I'll post about that.

Flydragon-Thanks for dropping by. I'm very lucky to work for a nursery that disposes of sad plants. We've only lived in this house a little over a year and it is going to take some time to get it to look the way I want.

Susie--I can't believe you and I have so many of the same plants! I love my profusion zinnas. This is the first year I have had them. I have butterfly weed. Monarch caterpillars feed on them. So don't be surprised to come out one day and find it covered! It's so exciting!
Love all your pictures!

Meadowview-It's hard to pass up those profusion zinnias. They really are easy to grow and so happy looking. I have grown the cherry profusion before and loved those as well. I haven't seen any catepillars on my butterfly weed yet. But I wouldn't mind if they show up.

They all look so pretty and healthy. Mine are looking a little dry and heat worn by now.

I have been thinking along the lines of shurbs too. As we get older, it is just too much graas to keep mowed. It will be fun picking out new shrubs. I want a Camellia and a Bridal wreath for sure.

Profusion zinnias are the most underrated annual! I love them all but the fire and cherry were my favorites this year.

Eve-Shrubs are great to use in the landscape. I think Camellias are so pretty. I've never grown them before or a Bridal wreath. Sorry your plants are looking worn now.

Bec, you should get some pincushion flowers. They really are neat and easy to grow!

Cherry-Thanks for visiting my blog. Those little hummers are fun to watch!

Beth-Too bad zinnias aren't perennial. We sold the fire at work this year. They are quite eye-catching!

Sis is my blog still messed up on your end?

They are so beautiful! The colors just make me smile. I so wish I had a green thumb or finger or anything that helped beautiful things grow.

Wow, what beautiful blooms! It's so nice to see them when many of the blooms in my neck of the woods have died..

Bec-yes your header is still messed up.

D.P.-Thanks, I feel lucky to have a few things still blooming. Today we are receiving lots of rain so hopefully the blooms will continue.
