Before
This past Saturday morning we got to work early before the heat set in. Luckily, we got all the plants planted. We also put down two more bales of pine straw. You can't really tell a lot right now since most of the throw-away-plants aren't blooming. Hopefully, this time next year they will have put on a show.

Hello
I love your throw-away garden!! I can't wait to see it next year. OH MY!
OH MY WORD!!!! I love your new look!!!!
Thanks Bec, just thought I would try to jazz it up a bit.
The throw away garden needs a new name Susie. It's looking really good. I love your new header!
So far, so good! You did a great job getting all those plants in. I am sure they are grateful and will flower well next year. I agree-you need a new name for such a lovely area.
Maybe this is a dumb question...or maybe a future blog post...what are the advantages of using a certain type of mulch over another? Why did you choose pine straw? I've seen it in several yards around my neighborhood and wondered if it was better than cedar/hardwood/pine bark, etc.
Oh, I love the look of your throw-way garden. It looks really nice! I agree with the others, it needs it a new name. :-)
P.G., Beckie, and DP-You are all right. I do need to come up with a new name for the throw-away garden. I'll think about some new names and let you know.
