The Power of Wind

When I got home today it was still hot and sunny so we decided to take our usual afternoon walk. We knew rain was headed our way but we wanted to give it a try anyway. Well the sky turned very dark and then the wind hit. At first dust flew everywhere. Thank goodness we were close to home. We got in and closed the garage door just in time. The wind was blowing like crazy! The trees were every which way. We walked out on the patio(it wasn't raining yet) and watched. Then it happened. One of the trees in the next door neighbors yard popped. It missed the house behind them by inches. We decided to go in at this point. Then the rain started but the wind was still blowing like crazy. The news said we had 60 +- mile-an-hour winds.

I watched my poor plants get so blown over. My Mexican petunias are now laying on the ground as well as my cleome. The trellis that my cucumber grows on was turned over. Our patio umbrella came out of the table, luckily landing in our yard. I don't know what else may have happened. It's still raining. Hooray for that! What a way to end a hot, humid day.

Thank goodness that you didn't have more damage than that. 60 mph winds can really do some damage. Yay for rain, send some my way ok?

Well, you did have an interesting day didn't you? I'm sorry about the breakage. Not much we can do about the wind except stake things. I forgot to stake my sunflowers and they bent and broke. But you don't expect the smaller things to get so beat down like that.

I glad you ran inside. I am not fond of storms, but I am happy you got rain.

Is that tree on your fence? WOW! Glad you guys were inside. Are your flowers smiling after the rain? bj

P.G. I'll try to send some rain to you, without the wind of course!

Eve-It's not fun to see big, beautiful sunflowers to get broke, sorry for that. Yes, we need the rain and we are grateful indeed.

Bec-The tree is not on our fence. We got very lucky! There's probably more down in the neighborhood. Two went down a week or two ago with another storm. Right now, my plants are probably wondering what in the world was that?

Susie, so glad the damage wasn't too bad. I know the rain was welcome, but we can do without those winds! Have agreat weekend.
