A couple of visitors to my garden...

When we were working in the garden Saturday we had a couple of little visitors. This butterfly seemed to be really enjoying the Cleome. He flew around a little bit and then moved on. Then came the other visitor. He loved the Mystic Spires salvia. My question to anybody who knows is this. Is this a hummingbird moth? I thought he was unique looking but my hubbie thought he looked a little evil. Anyway, neither one of us has ever seen one of these guys before.

We are finally seeing more butterflies now. And the hummingbirds are regularly visiting our feeder. Such fun!!!

Wow, I don't know. I've never seen a hummingbird moth. I have to agree with hubby, he does look alittle evil. How neat that you were able to get a picture.

P.G., I call it that because I think I read it on someones blog. I was lucky to catch it. I had left the camera right inside the back door. When it showed up I had David run inside to fetch the camera. The moth wasn't in any hurry to leave. So I got the shot.

Well, it's tail looks kinda like a shrimp. And the top kinda looks like a butterfly. So Alvin and I are going to take a wild guess and say it's a "butterfly shrimp"! HA! We are totally cracking ourselves up!!!!! Must be the heat!

Susie, the first one is a hummingbird moth. They are almost as hard to get a picture of as the real thing! I'm so glad you have hummers, they are such wonderful little birds-just busy, busy, busy!
