I guess this is a moth. He was hanging out on the garage floor. Don't know what his official name is but I'd call him a "camouflage" moth.
My hibiscus coccineus is blooming. I grew these from seed earlier this season and they got planted a little late. So I was happy to look out and see them blooming. 
I have heard them call Texas red star and swamp hibiscus. I have them planted in the birdbath bed but unfortunately they will get too tall there. So I plan on moving them this fall.
A couple of weeks ago we had a rainy day that ended up looking like this. 
This is the same picture just with the camera switched to the sunset setting. And last but definitely not least.
Tomorrow is Sept. which is the official month for Ovarian Cancer awareness. I have a sweet blogging friend, Ashley, who has been battling this cancer. She could definitely use your prayers. That is a cool looking moth Susie. I've been finding lots of mystery insects in my garden this summer. Great shots of your skies after the rain. It looks like it's on fire. Oh by the way hopefully your Limelight blooms next season since it didn't this one. My Pinky Winky that I planted last fall didn't bloom this summer either. Since it was so long ago that I planted my Limelight I can't remember when it started blooming. Sorry about your friend.

Pretty photos Susie!! That moth is quite interesting. We had a hummingbird moth on our phlox the other day. Tried to capture a photo, but I wasn't quick enough.

Shortly after we married, 18 years ago, my wife's mother died from ovarian cancer. The disease might show up at any time and my wife and all her sisters must take yearly exams to check for a certain gene. Ms. Ashley is my thoughts and prayers.

Don't you just love those settings on the camera. THEY make things so much easier for us gardeners who have better things to read up on rather then the camera manual. LOVE THE photo on your header. THEY ALMOST LOOK FAKE they are so perfect. LOVE IT!!!

gee, neat moth, there was one at the office a month or so ago, i should have borrowed a camera, it was the prettiest ORANGE, being as ORANGE is my fav o rite color, why didn't i follow thru???????
Love the Hibiscus, I need to find one in ORANGE come spring. or whenever, mine was beautificus earlier in the year, its looking mighty sad at the moment. TIME to dirt up and mulch up for the fall I suppose.

I will definitely keep your friend in my prayers. My mom is a 7 year ovarian cancer survivor and it's a pretty tough one all the way around. Hard to diagnose, tough chemo, etc.
Sending prayers for your friend - cancer is difficult to face. Ovarian cancer is one of the sneaky ones, too. I hope she's feeling better soon!
