Not A lot Going on

I can't believe August will be officially gone tomorrow. This summer has really gone by fast. Right now there isn't much going on around here. I did find this unusual visitor in the garage the other day.I guess this is a moth. He was hanging out on the garage floor. Don't know what his official name is but I'd call him a "camouflage" moth.My hibiscus coccineus is blooming. I grew these from seed earlier this season and they got planted a little late. So I was happy to look out and see them blooming. I have heard them call Texas red star and swamp hibiscus. I have them planted in the birdbath bed but unfortunately they will get too tall there. So I plan on moving them this fall.A couple of weeks ago we had a rainy day that ended up looking like this. This is the same picture just with the camera switched to the sunset setting. And last but definitely not least.Tomorrow is Sept. which is the official month for Ovarian Cancer awareness. I have a sweet blogging friend, Ashley, who has been battling this cancer. She could definitely use your prayers. If you click on her name, you can also visit her blog where you can get to know her.

Well that's about it from my world today. Hope yours is great!

That is a cool looking moth Susie. I've been finding lots of mystery insects in my garden this summer. Great shots of your skies after the rain. It looks like it's on fire. Oh by the way hopefully your Limelight blooms next season since it didn't this one. My Pinky Winky that I planted last fall didn't bloom this summer either. Since it was so long ago that I planted my Limelight I can't remember when it started blooming. Sorry about your friend.

Hi Susie,
Thanks for coming by. I've missed my blogging buddies. I did think about you this summer when we were in Canton at a baseball tournament, but couldn't remember where exactly you live and didn't know how far it would be. Hopefully, we'll meet up one day, we can't be that far away from each other!

Pretty photos Susie!! That moth is quite interesting. We had a hummingbird moth on our phlox the other day. Tried to capture a photo, but I wasn't quick enough.

I think I'll pop over and check out you friends blog. Cancer is such a horrible disease!!

Have a great week Susie!!

Have you been able to identify the moth? It is a beauty.

I love this time of year, putting the gardens to bed and turning my attention to indoor activities, which I have an abundance of!

I will look up your blogging friends' blog, thank-you.

That's a spectacular-looking moth! I've never seen one in those colours. Nor have I seen the Texas Star. It's beautiful! I love your skyshots too. Will check out Ashley's blog.

I hope you have a good week!

Such an interesting moth--I've never seen one like this before. It's hard to believe that the summer is nearly over; I think the older I get, the faster time goes by.

My thoughts and prayers are with your friend Ashley.

Your picture makes me wish I had a sunset setting on my camera. I think camouflage is a great name for the moth. We'll keep your friend Ashley in our prayers.

Shortly after we married, 18 years ago, my wife's mother died from ovarian cancer. The disease might show up at any time and my wife and all her sisters must take yearly exams to check for a certain gene. Ms. Ashley is my thoughts and prayers.

The reddish-orange sunset photo is stunning.

Don't you just love those settings on the camera. THEY make things so much easier for us gardeners who have better things to read up on rather then the camera manual. LOVE THE photo on your header. THEY ALMOST LOOK FAKE they are so perfect. LOVE IT!!!

Happy September 1!!!

Gorgeous sky! Reminds me of the skies I'd see in Australia. So bright! Very neat moth - maybe he's in the ARMY. ?? Oh, I love your hibiscus! One of my favorite flowers. Goes quite nicely with your sky the other day!

I'm so behind on visiting, I'm glad I finally made it here. The red hibiscus is very pretty, nice to get some late summer surprises like that.
Beautiful sky pictures, I like both of them. It's pretty interesting how the setting can change the color so much.
I will definitely keep your friend in my prayers. My mom is a 7 year ovarian cancer survivor and it's a pretty tough one all the way around. Hard to diagnose, tough chemo, etc.

Sending prayers for your friend - cancer is difficult to face. Ovarian cancer is one of the sneaky ones, too. I hope she's feeling better soon!

Susie,
I had the same moth in my garden last year...and I called him Camo Moth! Great minds think alike! ;-)

Beautiful Hibscus. I bet you had given up on any blooms this year. The garden is full of surprises.

What an awesome sunset..I think I like the regular setting the best.

I will be sending good thoughts and prayers Ashley's way as she battles her cancer.

Hope your Labor Day is a good one.
