We took a little drive up the road Monday just to get out for a bit. We drove up to an area called Riverbend. This is where my hubbie and family/friends use to go skiing years ago. It's right off the Natchez Trace Parkway. There was a group of people who had gathered and they were all driving these.
Pretty huh? Some of ya'll may remember driving around in these but that was just a little before my time. But personally I could definitely see myself driving around in that pretty orange/red convertible.
There were lots of big lily pads floating. Some were blooming but I couldn't get a very good picture. This guy seemed to be enjoying himself as much as we were. I hardly noticed the mosquitoes that were having lunch.Up the road a bit at a boat launch we saw this man taking his doggie out for a ride on his seadoo. Glad to see he put a lifejacket on him.
It's always fun to get out and go for a little drive. You just never know what you are going to see.

I love the old restored vintage cars Susie. I always wanted a black '57 chevy since that's the year I was born!!! You would look pretty sporty in that red/orange convertible. It is fun to get out and about and it always pays to have the camera ready!
Oh sissy....wouldn't it be fun to drive one of those convertibles to see Chicago. Oh yeah, you're not going....never mind!!!! Davie Baby, wouldn't it be fun to drive one of those cute convertibles to the concert. Sorry Suz, we'll get the hook up for Davie Baby!!! Sure wish YOU could go!!! lol
Looks like a neat ride, Susie. I love seeing those old cars. I grew up learning to drive in a 1950 Pontiac. Then my father bought a 1955 Oldsmobile... Such memories!!!!
Thanks for sharing your ride with us.
Hugs,
Betsy
I am old enough to remember these being the old cars people drove around, old as in "old", not "classic". Good to see though that these cars have lasted and hold their own to such an extent people want them again! They are pretty, aren't they?
Looks like a nice day, a drive around scenic areas with someone you love.
You never know what an outing might reveal! Great set of photos....I really liked the bird and the man/dog pair!
Very interesting outing Susie. Love the old cars!!
Hi Susie, that is what I plan to do this weekend. Hope I find some interesting things to see and photograph.

"See the USA in a Chevrolet!"
do you remember that?
That dog is too cute! I am also glad to see the owner put a life-jacket on it.
Glad you had a little get-away!
LOL...I've been in some of those cars before.
Glad he put a life jacket on his pouch too!

Susie, I remember these beautiful cars. I always wanted a white w/yellow one.
Just getting out and enjoying the sights is a fun way to spend a day. Glad you had a good time.
love the old cars...looks like everyone was having a good time
Looks like you had a fun drive. I love those "old" cars, problem is, I remember those "old" cars! Oh, but I'm not old!! Glad you had a nice relaxing day.
That sounds like a fun day to me!! Before we got married, Dave had a 1955 Chevy (Candy Apple Red, he'd say). I LOVED that car!
The dog on the seadoo cracked me up!
Looks like you had a great ride! The cars bring back memories--my first car was a blue 57 Chevy. It wasn't exactly a classic then--just my parents' old car. But I was thrilled to have any car at the time!
I wasn't able to actually drive any cars like the ones you pictured, but I sure remember them. Those were the days when each make had its own personality. Thanks for finding and sharing these.
Nice pictures of your get-away! The last two are my favs! So cute that the doggie has a life vest!
I've gotten so behind in visiting. Thanks for always visiting my blog by the way :)
I love those old cars. It really would be fun to have one. Ours neighbors have a neat old one that they go out for drives in around the neighborhood.
Those are some huge lily pads. It is fun getting out and taking the time to see what is going on, you can find some nice surprises.
I use to own a few of those when I was a teenager. I bought them used for a couple hundred dollars - sure can't do that now! As they say.... "those were the days!"
beautiful vintage cars, my father had an old pickup many moons ago and a 57 chevy when i was just beginning to drive. I remember driving that car a few times. I especially remember having to put brake fluid in it just about every time!!!

Those are some classic old cars. It would be fun to take them for a cruise on a nice weekend. :)
Hi Susie
When in doubt, always have your (my) camera with you (me),
because you just never know what you're going to see.

Fun pictures, Susie! Sounds like you had a nice time on your day away. I liked them all! :D Hope you have a happy Sunday.
always fun to drive on the natchez...love the old cars. a bit before my time too.
LOL...oh, I remember riding around in one of those, I still remember when my Step-Father and Momma drove by the school while I was at recess for me to see out brand new 1956 Chevrolet...I was in the 6th grade.
Thanks for the memories
nice pics. Love the cars.
Somehow I think you just called me old. :) Because these were not the new cars when I remember us having them. They were at least 10 years old before I remember being in them, but we definitely had them.
Susie, hi! Been mia, thus trying to catch up on all my favorite blogs. The photos of the vintage cars are great and brought back memories of my first car, a '57 Plymouth I purchased from my brother-in-law for $150. Times have surely changed. ;)
