Rainy Day Project

Okay, if you are like me, you can only sit around for so long before you become bored to death. My husband thinks I'm crazy but I have a hard time sitting around relaxing. (unless I'm at the beach, but that's a different story). I feel like I have to be doing something all the time. So, last Monday it was a very rainy day and I didn't have to work. So, I decided it was time to spruce up the guest bathroom.

Gee, I can't imagine why it looks so darn good!! The walls are actually painted some lovely shade of nothingness. So, that was the first thing to do. Give it a good coat of paint.

Now, I don't know about ya'll but painting ain't all that's it cracked up to be. Sounds like a good idea at first and then next thing you know, your neck hurts, your arms aches, and your fingers are really tired of clutching a paint brush. But somehow I managed to finish that.

Then I threw in a few decorative items and this is the finished product. Funny thing is, I'm still not happy with it. Recognize the angel and sign? Right now, that is their new home. I don't think they like it either.

So, if anybody has any suggestions, please send them this way.

Sis, I think you should try the lamp on the left side and also maybe some greenery on the back of the potty. I love the color, it is very warming. Luv ya, becjane

Susie, I'm with you on painting, but it is such a great and inexpensive fix. I like the room, but if you don't just keep playing with it. Your colors are very soothing and inviting-great job!

Hope you don'tget too much rain from Gustov!

Your sister had some good suggestions. How about trying the Larger picture in the middle with the two smaller pictures on either side or the large one with the two smaller ones next to it. Things look good in odd groups. I like the colors you picked, really livened it up.

Sister thanks for your suggestions. I'm going to look thru the house to see what else I might throw in there.

Beckie-Paint is such an inexpensive fix and really helps "warm up" a room. But my neck really was hurting before I finished.

We didn't receive much rain yesterday as we really have today. It has felt more like Gustav is visiting today more than yesterday.

PGL-I'm not much of a decorator so thanks for your input. Outside is easy, inside not so much. I just hate it though when I visit other peoples homes and feel so "at home". In my own home, I don't get that feeling at all. My husband tells me I'm crazy for feeling that way. He thinks everything is just fine.

Aunt Susie,
Your house looks so pretty. I wish I could get a Jackson overnight so I could come see it in real life. Until then, thanks for sharing pictures. I love getting to see what's going on with you. Love you, Casey

Susie, I feel the same way sometimes. I want my bath and bedroom to look like a New England bread and breakfast but so far I haven't been able to pull that off. LOL

I love the colors you chose and I think an african violet would look really pretty in there. Some people don't care for them but I think the silk ones are pretty and you don't have to worry about them dying.

I like the idea of the greenery on the back of the pahtee too.

Eve, New England Bed and Breakfast huh? Yes, that would be lovely.

Actually I do like African violets. Maybe I'll try to find a silk arrangement of them or something similar.

Thanks for the suggestions.

If your angel is not happy, try putting a pretty green plant beside her. I love plants in a bathroom. You did a great job. It's really a very pretty room.

hey i love the paint colour. i couldn't see but i love painted ceilings yes more painting a darker shade of the walls. i think it would look good if you used a larger piece of art too. with the colour of the towels and shower curtain. then put some larger arrangement with your angel.
you'll get it right and then know when it is.

Meadowview and Marmee-Thanks for the sweet compliments. I'm pretty happy with the paint color. I guess I just have to play with it to see what I can come up with. Thank you for your suggestions. I really appreciate them.

I can certainly relate to the joys (none)of painting. I always tell myself that the bathroom is a small room, and it won't take long. Wrong. Small room = takes a long time. All the corners, trying to manuver the chair around the sink, toilet, bathtub in order to get to the walls and the ceiling. Royal pain, for me anyway. I would rather paint the large living room, than the small bathroom anyday. Well I'd rather not have to paint at all.

You did a great job. Anytime you want to do mine.......

I'm with flydragon here ... bathrooms are the WORST to paint!!!!
I like your color - it's kinda golden, right??!?!? Very similar to what I have in my bathroom and I use a lot of brown and orange accents.

flydragon-Yeah, I'll be right over, brush in tow. Don't hold your breath though!

Painting a small room is a pain. Way tooooooo many little crevices and corners above cabinets and you are right about moving the chair around. Except in this case, I had a small step ladder and our 10' ladder. Oh yeah, lots of fun!

Beth-It is a somewhat golden color. It's called Winter Wheat. I bet orange and brown accents would be pretty with it.

Oh wow, that is SO beautiful now. I really liked how you decorated it. the color fits very well, and it's cute that you have a picture in the bathroom as well.

Thanks DP, I'm glad you like it. I'm still looking for that little bit of "something" that will finish it out.
