I don't make actual New Year's resolutions, never have, never will. But I do keep in mind some things that I might like to try to do.(Okay, maybe that is a resolution. I don't know, you can decide). One thing is I hope to appreciate each and every day God gives me on this earth. So I have decided to try to find a little beauty everyday. That might include a gorgeous sunrise or set, a cloudless blue sky, smiling and speaking to a total stranger, finally understanding a hard to understand bible verse, enjoying an author's blog, or listening to the quiet.
Well this New Year has started out being more gray than sunshiny and sometimes it's very hard to find beauty in that. But I know I have probably two more months of this before spring and I need to learn how to find the beauty in it. So I was able to capture some "rainy day" pictures and find the beauty in them. I hope you do...................................
This is English Ivy I have planted in a pot on my patio. It looks pretty happy covered in rainy droplets. The rains drops on the Privet berries look like little silvery linings.A water drop stands out brightly against the lush green of this Ligustrum leaf. And the last beauty is a false cypress. It looks like the water droplets are being squeezed out of the tips of the needles.
Now I know everyone won't see the beauty here and that's okay because we all need to see the world through our own eyes. So where do you find beauty?

i find them all beautiful and your outlook is beautiful too. we all have to appreciate the small wonders in our lives everyday, i think that is a good thing to be reflecting on this new year.
Beautiful pictures, Susie. I love seeing the little water droplets on each branch.
Hugs,
Betsy
Beautiful rainy day photos Susie. I love the way raindrops look on leaves & berries. :) Counting our blessings & being appreciative is a good way to live your life.
Hi Susie, Your pictures are so amazing. I find joy in the small things - like watching the birds and chipmunks out my window or seeing the jonquils push thru the ground already! Hope your leg is improving and that you enjoy your Sunday afternoon.
The pictures were very beautiful. I don't mind the rain thank you for your perspective today.
You did an excellent job of finding beauty even on a rainy day. The photos are all excellent and I thank you for sharing them.
Your photos are beautiful, Susie! I think seeing beauty is a matter of perspective. I've complained about all the ice we've had this winter, yet a branch or a seedpod covered in ice is beautiful, especially when captured in a photograph. I think you have the right attitude, Susie: when you look for beauty or for the good in something, you will find it.
Your photos are very bright amidst the gray. I'm a big believer in finding the good in everything and looking at the bright side. Life is too short to concentrate on the ugly things.
Love the little berry drips. No drips here (besides me, that is), just snow, snow, snow, and cold, cold, cold:)
Lovely photos, Susie! I'll trade you some snow for the rain! :D
I'm glad you can find so much beauty to enjoy and share even on a rainy day.
I so saw the beauty in all of your photos. My son said yesterday that he is so Praising God that he is alive and didn't realize all of the pretty things right around him.
Maybe this was a wake up call!!
Very good thoughts Susie!
It' been rainy and cold and it is hard to find those things when all looks gray. A good attitude makes all the difference.
I love your close up shots!! There is beauty in the gloomy days.
How's the calf coming? You have a week of recovery left before you can exercise again??
Such a great idea Susie. Sometimes we see the beauty with no effort and other times we may have to look a little, but it is always there.
Last week we finally had a little sun just about sundown and as I was driving, I noticed how beautifully the ice in the fields reflected the colors of the sunset.
Great photos and yes, beautiful!
Loved your raindrop shots...it's always nice to walk around the yard after rain to get these shots. The berries look so pretty!
As for your thoughts about finding beauty in one's surroundings, I totally agree with you. A falling leaf, butterflies and bees, birds, the sun, the moon , the stars...I don't want to miss out on any of these...
About your leg, I'll check out your earlier posts. I hope you're feeling better now.
Susie, your post never fails to uplift my spirit! Beautiful, serene, peaceful pictures with beautiful words to go with them.
Thanks!!!
Hi Susie - Happy New Year! I love the new look of your blog. You're so creative. Your photos look so inviting and well, warm! It's so cold here - it's suppose to get to 45 below zero tonight :O( I'm trying to get in the gardening spirit as I've been getting seed catalogs. Only a few more months left!!! Hope all is well down South.
