Time to celebrate!

Yesterday was such a nice day! Beautiful blue skies, warm temps, got to work in the yard a little and to top it off it was my birthday. This birthday was very special because I actually had a birthday cake. I haven't had one in years. The best thing about it? My honey made my cake for me. It was the first thing he has ever baked. As you may or may not be able to tell, it was white with white frosting. While growing up my mom always made our birthday cakes and she gave us the choice of what kind. White on white, my favorite. I know that sounds kind of boring but it's what I like! What is your favorite kind of birthday cake?

That's just about the sweetest thing I've ever heard, Susie!!

My mom gave us the choice of birthday cakes, too. I got Strawberry Shortcake most of the time - that's my favorite. Other than that, chocolate with chocolate would be second.

The men in my house all vote for white with white.

HAPPY LATE BIRTHDAY!!

Happy Birthday Susie! What is it with us December Birthday's and no cake? Too many sweets at Christmas I guess. How precious is that photo and your sweet husband to try his hand at baking for your birthday? Great memories, thanks for sharing your special time!

Happy Birthday Susie, What a wonderful gift from your husband. I love white cake with lemon icing. Sending you birthday hugs from GA - you've been a great support to me from the beginning and I always enjoy "visiting."

Happy Birthday Aunt Susie!!! That is so sweet that Uncle David baked you a cake. I love it!!!! Hope your day was special! I sure wish I had a piece of that cake. My favorite cake is chocolate with the white fluffy seven minute icing. If I am feeling really special , I like the little baby chocolate chips on the top.
Love, Casey

Surely white on white must be good, it used to be the choice of every bride. Speaking of which you look like a lovely young bride with your handsome groom in this birthday picture! So I'm thinking, you couldn't have gone that many years without a cake because you are so very young!

Ooooooohhhh - Ahhhhhhh! That sounds good right now! What a sweet thing to do! I always have to make my own cakes for any event if I want to eat any because no one makes dairy free cakes. My mom always gave us the choice too and I always chose angel food but now I like white on white or coconut which is what I made myself this year! Did your cake taste as good as it looks?
Happy Birthday!

Jacquie-Thanks so much! I like strawberry shortcake too!

Darla-You are probably right with all the sweets at Christmas. It was sweet that he made it. I think he might have even enjoyed doing it!

Mildred-I can see white cake with lemon icing would be yummy too! But then again what cake isn't yummy? I am quite fond of them all!

Casey-I think I have had a piece of your chocolate/white and chips. Also loved the carrot cake at Christmas. As David says sometimes, "you put your foot in it!" The guys at the firestation use to say that. Evidently that's a BIG compliment!

Lanny-You are waaayyy to kind! Didn't you notice how the picture is a little bit blurred? It's hiding all the wrinkles! hehe!

Meadowview-I had a wonderful day! I don't think it can get much better than digging and eatin' cake! hehe!

Sis-I cannot believe Alvie hasn't made you a cake especially since he does all that great cooking!
I love that strawberry too or carrot works!

A.Joy-I forgot about you having to have dairy free. Maybe you just need to give lessons on making a dairy free cake. Yes, the cake tasted wonderful! And by the way, coconut works for me too!

Happy birthday, Susie! I have several relatives with December birthdays. My dad's and grandson's is January 4th. I am baking a gluten free cake from a mix because he has eczema, and our daughter, (his aunt) is allergic to wheat, soy, and peanuts. I'll either have to have some snacks or make another cake, because it may be for a 9 inch pan, and won't be enough.

For me, for the past several years, ever since losing weight, I have requested ice cream and not cake. My sweet of choice is dark chocolate.

Thanks for visiting my blog. I recognize several people I know here. What fun blogging is!

Happy New Year,
Sue

Thanks Anna Colleen-it was a wonderful birthday!

Sue-I'm glad you stopped by. I thought the same thing about your blog. I know several of these people. Blogging is lots of fun and way too addictive! Well there certainly isn't anything wrong with ice cream! Yummy!!!
