A Recent Road Trip

Yes, we were at it again for Thanksgiving. This time our travels took us to.......drum roll please. The big state of Oklahoma! We decided to go visit my brother and his wife in Tulsa. This was a first for both of us. They've been wanting us to come and so this was the perfect opportunity. My mom was there too so we got to eat some of her yummy dressing. Trust me, it's the best in the world! Here she is whipping up some of her magic! My brother giving his approval after a taste test. While we were there my hubbie read on the internet about the space station and space shuttle would be passing over. So we bundled up and headed out. Sure enough, about 7:00 p.m. we saw them both. It was interesting to see. I tried to capture some pics but my camera isn't that good.

On Friday we got out and they showed us around. We took a drive to Claremore, Ok which was home to Will Rogers. Then we took a drive out on Route 66 to get our kicks.(you have to be a certain age to get that)! hehe! Lots of history there. Then they drove us by Oral Roberts University. I just had to have a pic of these praying hands. The statue was beautiful as well as the school campus. Supposedly the base of the main building is to be the exact size of Noah's ark.

All in all, we had a wonderful time. Tulsa is a nice place for sure.

We returned home on Saturday after driving 617 miles in one day. I'm way too old to do that! I don't think I have gotten my energy back yet!

That was quite a trip Susie! How nice to be able to see family though. My hubby always thought Tulsa was a really pretty city.
Is it cold where you live yet? We are getting a big cold front so they say. It will be 29 Friday morning...brrr!

I'm glad you got your kicks on Route 66! (I'm old enough to get it!). The picture of the praying hands is wonderful. We're going to have to add Oklahoma to our list of places to visit.

Hi Susie, What a great way to spend Thanksgiving. I know it was nice to be with your brother and his wife and enjoy all the sights and especially to enjoy having your Mama to prepare her dressing! That is a lot of driving - hope you can rest up a little. We're having tons of rain last night and today.

What a wonderful trip, I love visiting in OK. I used to live in Lawton when I was in High School.. But we spent several days touring the eastern section a couple of yrs ago on the way to Montana..that is a long drive to make in 1 day. I'd still be recouping..lol..
So glad you got to visit with your Family and Mother for Thanksgiving. And boy do I remember Route 66....

I especially love the picture of everyone looking heavenward pointing to the space station/shuttle.

It does look like your mother was in her element in the kitchen. Wonderful that you were all able to get together, even though you had to make that long trip. It does take awhile to recuperate after a long drive.

Sounds like you had a great time, Susie! There's nothing quite like Mom's cooking--my mother brought her homemade rolls to our Thanksgiving dinner--yummm. 600 miles of driving in one day is a lot! I'd need a day of doing nothing to recuperate:)

So, we were both traveling for Thanksgiving! I'm like you though, I can't take those long drives as easily as I once could. I'm glad you had a nice visit with your brother and mother!

That's a long drive... I'm like you--too old to do that anymore. I get as stiff as a board. We stop at a rest stop--and I walk like an old woman... HEY---I am an old woman... GADS!!!! ha

First of all , who is this commoncents and how do you respond to the link exchange when you can't get to the blog...there is a comment from them on my post too. The plant we think is Hibiscus is supposed to make seed, if so, you want some? It's beautiful foliage even w/o the bloom.

Susie, what a wonderful post! nothing quite like sharing the joy of family especially at Thanksgiving time.

What is it about Mom's cooking? Last Thanksgiving our daughter invited us to her house: I brought the stuffing, potatoes, bread, broccoli casserole, pies... but she did bake the turkey. ;)

Thank you for allowing us to visit with your beautiful family. Have a great weekend.

Hi! I live about 5 minutes from downtown, so it's snowing pretty vigorously here, too - it's so neat and pretty! A good consolation for killing the last of my summer veggies.

Have a great weekend!

617 miles! that would definitely give a girl a bad case of "car ugly" Lots of fun and even though your camera couldn't catch the space station the pointing picture is way more meaningful, too cute!
