A Fast Trip

This Saturday we took a quick trip to Arkansas to pick up my mom for Mother's day and bring her home with us.
Due to much rain in this area the mighty Mississippi was out of her banks.I think it's going to be a while before the farmers are able to work these fields. Small lakes dotted the terrain all the way.Needless to say we don't travel lightly. We carry everything with us except the kitchen sink. Mom didn't say she was crowded in the back but as you can see she didn't have much wiggle room.

Saturday before we left I got to run in another race. It was hot and soooo humid. When the race started I think I got just a little too excited and ran my first mile waaayyy toooo fast. I was almost ready to quit before I even got started. Halfway thru my lungs were begging to stop but my legs wouldn't let me. I'm glad they didn't because I got to take another Grand Masters trophy home with me. Yippee!!!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Is it common for the river to flood now? I feel bad for the farmers, hope the river recedes some.
Congrats on another win :) Enjoy your visit with your Mom.

Catherine-It doesn't usually flood but I guess if it's going to, this would be the time of year for it. They've had lots and lots of rain.

Dirt Princess-It's about a 4 1/2 hour trip. Not too bad really.

Thanks to everyone for your sweet comments.

Congratulations on your trophy! A lot of that rain made it to Tennessee while we were gone -- we now have a lot of work to do in the yard!

Oh Wow! Congratulations on winning the race!!! You have a pretty Mom! I know what you mean about taking so much along on a trip. Jeep thinks I carry everything but the kitchen sink! He can pack in an instant...rake the toiletries into a duffle bag, add some underware and socks, grab a few shirts and pants and he's good to go!

Yahoo! Way to go Susie!

Your mom is gorgeous, so graciously perched among your nearly-kitchen-sink and dresses.

I can't shut your window now because your music is right up Anna's alley. Well if it keeps her working on her studies I won't mind too much!

Congratulations on your trophy and letting your legs finish the race!!! You are so inspirational to me to get out there and be active!!! I've never been a runner but I do have troubles standing still. Happy late Mother's Day to your mom - she looks lovely amidst the crowded car seat and I love the photos on the road and man - look at that river!!!

My mother is driving up from Atlanta tomorrow. She will be the only one in the car, and she will probably be this packed in. Sometimes I think she DOES bring the kitchen sink when she comes. And of course this time she has to bring stuff for the great-grandbabies.

Wow! Congratulations on the trophy!

I hope your visit with your mom is (was?) wonderful.

The river looks really high! That would make me a little nervous, I think.

Hope you are having a great week, Susie! :D
