They're back!!!

I looked out the kitchen window the other day and saw our redheaded woodpeckers are back. I'm not sure what he thinks is in the feeder but I don't think he'd be interested. There were 3 or 4 chasing each other around. I guess this one needed a water break. The only time I'm not crazy about these guys is when they decide they want to search for bugs on the gutters. Rat-a-tat-tat will drive you crazy! Anyhoo I'm glad they are back. They are fun to watch!

What a great pic of Woody gazing at the cherub! You should send it to "Birds and Blooms" magazine! Thanks for visiting my site.
Blessings!

They are so pretty, Susie. I saw ONE last summer at our birdbath. Hope I get to see many, many more this summer.

Hugs,

What a gorgeous Redhead! Isn't it funny how they return to the same places every year. I looked out this afternoon and we had two orioles drinking from our pond. We had two last year so they probably have returned. I was just reading that orioles like cut oranges and grape jelly. We feed the birds our left over biscuits every morning. I told Alvin I guess we should put jelly on one of the biscuits in the morning. LOL

Our woodpeckers have nearly eaten the side out of our house!!

The second picture is adorable - you should print and frame that one!

What beautiful photos Susie. I don't know if it works for everyone, but a painter once told us a few rubber snakes thrown up on the roof will keep the woodpeckers off the house - it works for us!!!

I'm glad they are back visiting your garden. That would drive me crazy too, them pecking on the gutters I mean. Great shots Susie. :)

Every time I see or hear a woodpecker I can't help but think about the old cartoon, Woody Woodpecker!

He's so pretty.;D

My niece had one pecking on the house outside her bedroom one year. She was about 10 and it scared her to death, not to mention he did a number on their siding.

They are pretty! I've never seen that type before. We've had flickers banging on the fan vents on the roof before. I thought the plumbing was about to burst before I realized what it was

Great looking bird! We get Flickers here, but no Redheads.

Hi Susie, I had one this weekend too. I was so excited because it's the first I've ever had in my backyard. He hung around all day but was gone the next. Perhaps he will settle close by and visit from time to time. Then again, maybe he was just passing by on his way to someplace far from me. It was a joy seeing him.

I've seen a lost of different kinds of woodpeckers around here but never a red head. He's really pretty.

Those are beautiful ones! We have 3 or 4 different types of Woodys around here, not that one though.

Susie, you got some great shots! I love the one of him looking at the cherub. I haven't seen any red-headed woodpeckers around here yet, but I had some downyheaded ones all winter. I haven't seen any lately, though; I hope it's not because I forgot to refill the suet feeder for awhile:)

I just got back from my sister's farm, and we could hear the woodpeckers around us in the forest. Wonderful. I did manage to get a rather blurry shot of one, side stepping around a tree. I don't think that ours are red headed though.

Happy Spring.

I love to see woodpeckers. I don't mind hearing them, but I could imagine it is annoying hearing them on the gutters!!!

We have lots of woodpeckers around our home. We put out the suet cages and watch them go at it. We have mostly downey woodpeckers but occassional see a red-bellied woodpecker, which if very shy.

Thanks for the comment on my blog! I know it's amazing to see what people are planting in different gardening zones. The garden centers just started getting the pansies about 2 weeks ago here in Massachusetts and they will stay in the potting containers until probably end of May.

I miss seeing them out here. Where do you live in MS? I grew up in tishomingo county and lived for 5 years in Oxford before moving here.
I know the delta very well. How hot is it there?

They are so pretty. I don't mind them as long as they don't peck on my wood house!
