Some garden blooms

Last fall I removed my 5 Itea's from my birdbath garden to a new bed. It was too wet in that bed and they were drowning. This year they are doing much better and are now in bloom. As you can see they are all blooming wonderfully. I like the fuzziness of their blooms. They have a light fragrance as well. The upper two photos are of the invasive shrub Privet. This is the wild variety that has these pretty white blooms. They also have the familiar sweet, sickeningly strong smell. For some odd reason though I like it. I guess it reminds me of what spring smells like.I planted this variegated iris a couple of fall's ago. It finally bloomed.Sorry I don't know the name of it. I like that it turned out this lavender color.

I'm hopeful I'll continue to have more blooms to show as the season progresses.

I've never seen iteas but I want one now! They look like white caterpillars - cute!

How cool that you have a variegated iris. That adds interest to the landscape year-round, huh?

Hope you're having a good week!

Such pretty blooms Susie. I enjoy visiting everyone's gardens. Something new and different each day to enjoy.

Ginger actually the iris completely disappeared during the winter. I was really glad to see it come back.

Susie, your Iteas look like they are really enjoying their new home. Such a lovely mass of blooms. I have only seen the varigated iris on posts and they are very interesting. Does the foliage stay nice all summer?

Iteas are a new plant/flower for me. The sure look nice, though. We are also enjoying iris blooming in our garden now.

Susie, I've never heard about iteas. They're gorgeous! And you mentioned the fragrance too. Honestly, I agree with other bloggers that there's a lot to learn by visiting blogs around the world!

Looks like your Iteas are happy with their new home. Sometimes you just have to move a plant to the right location for it to shine! :) That Iris is the wonderful Iris pallida ‘Variegata'. It is the same as mine that I posted yesterday except with the variegated foliage. :)

Beckie, the foliage does stay around all summer. Adds a nice interest to the bed.

Marmee-There are so many different plants out there. I wish we could learn them all. At least it's fun trying.

Thanks for the identity Racquel.

good morning Susie, itea is an interesting plant...I've planted it in dryer soil and it fails to get nice bloom size but sent suckers everywhere...they looked like sticks here and there! So now it's in a damper spot, with better drainage and we are hoping it survives...I do like it a lot! I love the iris...it's a lovely lavender lady. gail

Beautiful iris, Susie! Last year was the first year I had blooms from the irises I'd planted a few years before. I'd love to add more, but it's hard to be patient:)
Your iteas are doing well--sometimes a new home can make all the difference.

Gail,I think that was the problem I had in the original spot. The soil didn't drain. Hopefully yours will do better now.

Rose-We have some iris's at work that are planted in beds. I'm tempted to dig up a bulb or two but you are right. Patience really is a virtue that maybe I'm lacking a little of.

Hi Susie, your Iteas are so pretty. Love the variegated iris. Does it multiply quickly? Even if it didn't bloom the foliage is worth growing;)

Hi Susie. I like your Itea virginica(?). It think it's ok up to zone 9, so I might even be able to grow it in my garden.

Hi Susie - I think that I have the same invasive shrub that has grown the size of small trees. A chainsaw will take care of that soon. But how do you kill the plant and prevent it from returning. Susie I hope you have a great day... Becca

Just wonderful. So I have to wait a few years to get my irises to bloom, is that what you are telling me? sigh... I have a Virginia Sweetspire that Ms. Doris gave me, it has a couple of those whit blooms, it will be large in a couple of years...

Hey sister;

LUV the flower in your header. It looks like Morning Glory even though I'm pretty sure it isn't.

My Iris are blooming too, however at just one end of the flower bed. The other end doesn't look too good and I have no clue why.

My variegated iris is also blooming this year. Hasn't bloomed in 3 years. The color is the common iris bloom, think they were just working on the leaves when they developed this one.

So nice that spring is finally here. Isn't life great?

Marnie this iris has not multiplied much. I guess it might as it gets older but I don't really know.

Becca-I don't know how you can kill that privet. It produces from those underground roots.
