Saturday Scenes

Yesterday morning started out great. When we got out in the yard it was already 65 degrees. After putting down some pinestraw mulch I grabbed the camera to see what I could find.Ms. Butterfly was enjoying her visit to the pincushion flower. Poor baby had lost part of her wing but she still flied around okay.Mrs. Bluebird had begun to build her nest but evidently she was taking too long according to Mr. Bluebird. He dived at her and off she went. Unfortunately I didn't see either bird back at the box the rest of the afternoon.I did notice this beauty. This is a perennial cornflower(Centaurea montana). It's has such a unique bloom. As I was focusing on it I noticed this little visitor.Hello little froggie!!!He got a little camera shy.The foxglove has been showing off. Can't blame her for that. Then I found little tiny little flower along the fence line. I think it may be common flax but I'm not sure. It is actually more purple than in the picture. Sorry for the blurriness, macro didn't want to cooperate for some odd reason. Here's an updated pic on my walking path I made. I have added a few things and more will be added later. After our day in the garden we decided to drive down by the lake. There were so many people fishing and lots of boats out and about. I would love to spend a lazy day on the lake like this. Now when you are out and about driving around on country roads, you better make sure you act right cause if you don't, these guys are glad to straighten you up. Actually they were checking for driver licenses and insurance proof. This is very much a common thing around here. Then after our wonderful day we went out for catfish. As we were going down the road we came across these little guys. They couldn't make up their minds which way to go. As you can see they got right in front of us and decided to just stop. See the oncoming traffic? Everyone in that group had to stop to wait on these guys too. Finally, the ducks got smart and flew out of the situation. Thank goodness everyone was nice and waited on them.

That concludes this Saturday's scenes. It was a great, great day!!!

What a nice Saturday! Don't you wish all Saturdays could be like that one?!

Sounds like you had a wonderful Saturday, Susie... I love a day like that, first in the garden, then for drive, and then out for catfish... Can't beat that!!!

Love your foxglove AND your walking path. Can't wait to see the yard as more things bloom...

Hugs,
Betsy

What a great way to spend a Saturday. Those ducks are too funny. And your walkway looks great!! We're expecting more freezing temps this week... I sure hope spring weather is coming soon.

What a fun, leisurely day. I love walking around looking for birds and butterflies to photograph. The lake looked really serene too. And you made me hungry talking about dinner! Hope you have a good week.

You have a good eye! I had to look really close to see that frog.

We also had beautiful weather yesterday. I raked under my orchard trees and this afternoon we put a good size dent in that last pile of limbs in my yard, then it started to rain.:(

Those pictures of the lake look very inviting. I would love to spend a spring day out on a boat, but that won't happen until we retire. Thanks for sharing the pics.

Deedee-Yes, it was picture perfect!

Thanks Betsy, the catfish was great!

Thanks Jacquie-Those little ducks were so cute. I'm so glad they didn't get ran over.

Mildred-Saw a couple of more butterflies today but I didn't have the camera with me.

Milah-Glad you were able to do chores in your yard. Hopefully you will be finished with that one remaining pile.

Enjoyed the "Saturday Scenes" very much. Love the blue stepping stones in the new path.

What a great Saturday you had! Love your path! You really are one talented lady! Glad your weather is better. We are suppose to get a freeze (or frost) this week. Ugh! :)

What a nice day! I love all your visitors, especially that cute little frog. I was just thinking that soon we'll be stopping in traffic for the duck and geese families that like to cross in the middle of the road.

Ginger said...

That foxglove is beautiful! I didn't know we could grow those here - I thought it might be too hot.

I love that everyone stopped for the ducks!

Susie said...

Thanks TC-I like the stepping stone pathway lots better now that I have added some things beside it. At first it was just a little too stark.

Linda-Well I don't know about talented. I like to create things outside but inside the house it's a total different story. Hope you don't have terribly cold weather. We are suppose to have 30's tomorrow night. I will have to cover some of my things. Ugh!

Catherine-So you have a little animal crossing problem huh? I love God's little creatures.

Ginger-Yes we can grow foxglove here. It may or may not return next spring tho. I was glad everyone stopped too. I thought I was going to see a smashed duckie for sure.

I planted the perennial cornflower this year - I planted in the area where the deer have had a feeding-frenzy. I hope they make it.

I've never had catfish - someday when I'm down South I'll have to try.

Lovely spring scenes - thank you for posting them! :)

Looks like you and Davey baby had a terrific Saturday! Better get your winter coat out for tommorrow night! Brrrrrrr!

What a wonderful Saturday you had. I like the walk you've built. I was also impressed that the traffic in your town stopped for the ducks.

Looks like things are busy in your garden. I really love your path, and little froggie was so cute! I'd say you had a very nice Saturday!

Vicki said...

Hey Susie, I can't believe I was "away" that long. Summer is so busy for us, but wait, it's not summer yet. Don't know what we'll do when everything is in full swing! I loved the pics of the butterflies and flowers. The weather has "teased" us a little up here, but there's a freeze warning tonight. I can't wait until we can really plant and do some things around here.
Take care, talk to you soon,
Vicki

Susie said...

Beth-I hope your cornflowers make it too! Maybe the deer left one or two for you. If you ever come to the south you have to try catfish.

Thanks Terri, glad you enjoyed the pics.

Bec-I've got everything out for work today. The wind is blowing like crazy. I will probably turn into a popsicle today.

George-I was surprised everyone stopped for the ducks too. I just knew one was going to get smashed.

Morning Glory-Saturday was wonderful and so was Sunday. This a.m. it's a horse of a different color. Can you say hello to Mr. Winter?!?!?!

Vicki-Hope you got your winter coat this a.m. Brrh!!!

We are still months away from having swallowtails in our gardens.

We had a nice day Saturday but it snowed again last night.

What a wonderful day! I so love your walking path with those blue chips in there!!

Oh my, Mr. and Mrs. Duck must have something else besides safety on their minds. Your flowers are gorgeous and well ahead of mine, you barely have spring! Foxglove ring in summer up here.

Dirt Princess said...

oooohhh I love the cornflower. I have to add that to my list! The little green frog is too cute! I have frogs everywhere in my yard...but they are just toads! The county sherrifs here often do roadblocks. I suppose they are just bored and need something to do for the day, or need to meet their monthly quotas! I love all of your shots...they are fabulous

This proves one thing ... I live WAY to far North!

Love the shot from the car :-)

Great Saturday scenes! I
particularly like that little green frog. You are a lucky duck to see so many plants blooming. Ours are mostly the wild things and a few bulbs. We are supposed to get below freezing tonight and I am afraid everything is going to get nipped. I hope you have a happy week!

Susie said...

Marnie-I just got home from work and the first thing I did was go out into the garden and start covering plants. It's suppose to be down in the 30's tonight. Brrh!

Thanks Darla it was a great sunshiny day.

Lanny-Unfortunately it is to get really cold tonight. I hope these little blooms make it.

Thanks Dirt Princess-I'm told the cornflower will fade out in the heat, just to let you know.

Speedycat-Thanks for the visit. I admire you northerners much. I could never live up there. One of my co-workers lived in MN last year, he actually loved it.

Sandy-It's suppose to be cold here tonight and tomorrow night. I'm hoping everything will make it thru.

Hi, Susie; I'm just sitting here listening to your music today..."Stormy" has always been one of my favorite oldies.

It certainly looks like summer has arrived in Mississippi--butterflies already! It will be awhile before we see them here in Illinois, although I saw a lot while visiting this past week in Arizona.

Thanks for taking us along on your day out--I enjoyed it!

Janie said...

It sounds like a beautiful day, I agree. Your flowers are beautiful, and your walking path looks so inviting. We don't have butterflies or frogs out yet, but it won't be too long now.

Susie said...

Hi Rose, Glad to hear you made it back home safely. It's not quite summer yet. We had 30's last night and the night before.

Thanks for your sweet comments Janie. I'm glad you like my walking path.

The butterfly and bluebird are very cute. My mom has that same batchelor button in her garden. Those ducks in the street are silly but my dad and I almost ran over two the other night.

Susie said...

Thanks Anna Colleen-I'm glad you and your dad didn't run over your ducks.

Judanna said...

Thanks Susie, I am feeling some better today. I still really love that blue walk way. Would love to know the materials you used.
Again, thanks

Thank you. If you don't mind me borrowing you great idea, I have a perfect spot for one. Hope that I can find a blue as beautiful as yours. Maybe I could use blue pottery dishes and accidently drop them. LOL Have a very blessed Easter.

Hi Susie
Sorry it took me so long to get over here after your visit. I actually did visit the same day that you did, I just got side-tracked and didn't leave a comment.
Our weather here has been absolutely crazy, confused is more like it. Warm and sunny one day, cold and rainy the next!
Great spring pictures. I like the one of the ducks crossing the road. Don't see much of that, although, when my husband and I were driving home from Muncie yesterday, we saw a wild turkey hen along the side of the highway, looking for something to eat. I just wish I had my camera in my hand, instead of in my bag in the back seat!
Take care
Lisa
