In my last post I had told you I wanted to capture an updated pic of my blue bird babies. Well imagine my surprise when we opened the box and found them all gone. It had been a week or two since I took the last pic. So I'm very glad to know all 5 of them left the nest.

Imagine my surprise today when I opened the blue bird house and found these!! We had just cleaned out the old nest a few days ago and now we have a new family. Yippee!!

These are some of the other bird sightings in the yard. I guess these are finches?!?!

And last but not least, these guy seems confused. Not sure what kind of bird this is either but he looked pretty.
Hope everyone is finding some pretty birds in your backyard.
That's great news about the blue birds Susie. I still don't have my camera but I did sneak up to the blue bird box. One of the babies peeked out at me and then ducked down real quick - it was so funny! I enjoy all your bird photos.
ReplyDeletep.s. my word verif. is flocks!!!
Huevos! Awesome find.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful bird....I don't know what it is either but I am willing to bet someone else can ID it.
Susie, how cool that you found a new nest and eggs already! You'll have a new family to watch. I enjoyed seeing your other bird pictures too. That last one looks like it might be a Baltimore Oriole, but I'm not sure. I hope your week is going well. :-)
ReplyDeleteI need to clean my bird box out and maybe I'll get a new family too. I think, can't tell for sure, but think the last one is an Oriole???
ReplyDeleteMolly
You are one lucky lady! And you must have a very special birdhouse to have it rented out again so quickly:) I'm curious, too, what kind of bird that is in the last picture; hopefully, someone can identify it.
ReplyDeleteYes Susie, that's a goldfinch! We have them by the dozen, and they never fail to cheer me with that bright yellow color. Just wish they wouldn't tear up my sunflowers!
ReplyDeleteI always love seeing baby birds and nests.
ReplyDeleteYour blog design is so cute!
Hi Susie, You are so lucky to have the birds nesting in your nestbox.. Are the new eggs bluebird eggs? I can't tell by the picture. That was a QUICK turn-around...Wow!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat's the strangest looking hummingbird I have ever seen.... ha ha.... Can't see the bird very well, but is is an Oriole???? The Orioles love grape jelly and oranges... Don't know if they can get to the sweet nectar.... Funny!!!!!!
Yes, those yellow birds are male Goldfinches...
Congrats on your backyard birds.
Hugs,
Betsy
Just like human babies, those little birds grow quickly, and fly the nest before you know it! Lovely to have a new little family to watch.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe your babies have already flown the coop!!! And, that you are going to have some newby's soon!!! Mercy, those bluebirdies of yours are busy little things.....lol!!! I LUV the other birdie babies you have too, sweet little Finches and orange/blackie baby!!! I haven't seen anything around our yard yet! Maybe, it won't be long!!!
ReplyDeleteI LUV you sissy girl!!!!
Love to see birds..pretty orange on that last one. I don't believe any of the Texas Star Hibiscus Germinated, sigh. I have several other Hibiscus up about a foot or so, not sure if one of those are from you or not..My writing faded in the heat, sorry. When they bloom maybe you can tell me.
ReplyDeleteThat was quick for another family to move in and lay eggs already. I think Orioles like sweet things like oranges and that's probably why it's on the hummingbird feeder. You get a lot of colorful birds in your yard.
ReplyDeleteHi Susie, are those eggs blue?
ReplyDeleteI am trying to lure some orioles to my garden this year. I have some grape jelly and pieces of fruit out for them.
Marnie
We've got a blue bird nesting somewhere. I saw her land on top of the gazebo with bugs in her mouth.
ReplyDeleteNot that I know from personal experience, just that I am a bird freak and if I ever did travel I would be making sure to look for birds I've alway wanted to see, but that is an oriole and they drink nectar from feeders a lot like humming bird feeders. But then you have probably figured all that out already as I am late getting around to the "neighborhood". I am digging your birds!
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing that you already have a new family in your bird box. We had a couple of bluebird families last year and they were all fascinating to watch.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new family of Bluebirds in your box! Cool bird pics. That last pic with the hummingbird feeder cracks me up, confused indeed. ;)
ReplyDeleteIs that a Boston Oriole on your hummingbird feeder? Great pictures! I'm missing my little birdies!
ReplyDeleteHi Susie.
ReplyDeleteI've never visited here but I'm happy I did to see your bluebird eggs. That's so wonderful you have a second batch!
I agree that the last photo is of an oriole. He's not confused, he's just used to using a sugar water feeder (similar to a hummingbird feeder but made specifically for orioles). I have one for them in my yard and once they try it, they love it. I also put out grape jelly for them. If you did either, you'd probably keep seeing them in your yard since they obviously are around.
I know the yellow bird is a goldfinch, we have a lot of them at our bird feeders now and I love to watch them. How exciting for you to have another clutch of eggs to watch and aren't birds in the garden a wonderful blessing? Looks like you have been abundantly blessed with pretty birds.
ReplyDeleteLooks like Baltimore Oriole. I don't have any, but I just happened to put an orange out today for them.
ReplyDeleteTry that and see if he comes back.
Congrats on the second brood.
We are also enjoying the birds in our yard Susie. They sometimes share the seed--other times fight like siblings. So fun!
ReplyDeleteSusie, amazing that another nest appears immediately following the previous. I can only get wrens in my blue bird house. Please send us a couple. ;)
ReplyDeleteHope you are enjoying a wonderful weekend.
Lucky you ... you rent must be acceptable to them to keep constant tenants ... chuckle!
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous week.

Orioles build *amazing* nests. I've only seen them once, after years of looking.
ReplyDeleteAwesome!!!
ReplyDeleteWow - those are some wonderful pictures!
ReplyDeleteHi Susie, thank you for stopping by the other day...you're often in my thoughts too and it's always lovely to come and see what's happening here! I'm catching up now and i must say that you have some really pretty birds in your yard.
ReplyDeleteMr. Froggy's cute! And there's a lot to look forward to in your garden.
Have a great week!
Well your back yard is just booming with activity! So much fun and the new nest!!! We just found a Robin's nest in our yard with 4 pretty blue eggs in it and the Goldfinches have tripled in # this year. Love the pink flower in your header!!!
ReplyDeleteso great to have so many bluebirds to nest and raise their little ones. we added more boxes this year and think they have been found by a new family.
ReplyDeletei believe tht last bird is a baltimore oriole...they usually like oranges and grape jelly...how funny he is attracted to your nectar.
happy may.
Oh, lucky you, Susie! I finally saw the wee little heads of the robins in their nest ... I get so excited.
ReplyDeleteSo enjoy your pics ... wish I could get them as beautifully as do you.
May your Memorial weekend & celebrations be safe & enjoyable, filled merriment ... as you solemnly remember those that have passed before us & our military that protect(ed)s our freedoms. LET FREEDOM RING!!

Hi Susie, just stopping by for a quick 'hello'. How nice to have several families of birds occupy your houses. I looked at your mystery bird and immediately thought Baltimore Oriole, and see that a lot of other folks did too! I have never seen one in my yard but recognize them from photos. Hope you are enjoying your summer! I've been doing very little blog visiting or writing...just a lot of gardening;-)
ReplyDeleteHi Susie!
ReplyDeleteBeen wondering if Mississippi is getting affected by the oil spill in the gulf? How terrible for all the vegetation down South .... I've enjoyed looking at all your pictures ... especially that hydrangea. WOW!
hope all is well ....

ReplyDeleteThanx for sharing, i love keeping an eye on the bird families this time of year!
