Not to mention my little cherry tomatoes. I think I saw one smile at me, he was so happy!
Before you start thinking I've got great tomato producing plants listen to this. I have 13 tomato plants and so far guess how many fruits I have eaten off of them. Give up? ZERO. Yes, you heard me right. Nada, zilch, none....... Between hot temps, no rain and those pesky little(sometimes big) tomato worms my poor plants have suffered tremendously.
See that little cuke? Hopefully he'll grow into a big boy. I have harvested 4 off the vine and they were mighty tasty. Now the vines are covered in blooms so hopefully I'll get stocked up.
The Limelight hydrangea too was enjoying it's splattering of drops.
I know if it could have, this iris blade would have sucked these little droplets thru it's foliage. Needless to say all my plants were so happy with a little rain. I hope we get more. We need it.So if anyone wants to, feel free to do a little raindance!!!
I'm dancing Susie!!! We have had some rain too and oh what a welcome sight. We got our very first tomato from our plant today and only one slice was worth eating!!! Good thing we don't grow our own food - someone would go hungry!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what rain is.... Is that the wet stuff that comes from the sky once a year? We shut down the state and celebrate when we get (rain?)

ReplyDeleteGlad you got rain! We got a little shower, but not nearly enough. I'm watering our few tomato plants and the flowers. Our grass is crunchy sounding when you walk on it! We haven't had 'real' tomatoes either. Maybe later.

There is nothing so refreshing as rain! Your photos make it look deliciously cool and inviting. I hope you get more and your veggies produce their little hearts out. :)

I think I do see a smile on all your veggies:) So glad you received some much-needed rain. We had rain on the Fourth of July, which disappointed some people, but it was just what we needed. My vegetable garden is looking better than it ever has, except for the weeds which seemed to appreciate the rain as well:)
ReplyDeleteWe're needing rain badly here. Our tomatoes have been hit pretty hard by the same conditions... including the worms. And our cucumbers have been SO bitter this year, Dave says from the lack of moisture. I live for fresh cucumbers and tomatoes in the summer time!

The rain looks refreshing on your tomatoes and all your plants. You mentioned having trouble with pesky worms beating you to your tomatoes, and my grandmother was having the same problem with the birds. They seem to love them as soon as they start to turn red. So much for waiting for vine ripe tomatoes. (sigh) LOL* Hope you are having a great afternoon*!

ReplyDeleteWe're dancing along with you. We finally got some rain the other day after a long dry spell. I think our plants were as happy as yours were sto get the rain. Enjoy those delicious cucumbers and we'll keep our fingers crossed for the tomatoes.

ReplyDeleteWe ate one tomato out of our garden. Jimmy called it our 20 dollar tomato. He said he spent $20 on the seeds in the garden and he thinks that one tomato is all he is going to get out of the garden. We split the little thing.

ReplyDeleteFirst of all, you blog looks great, love the header photo too. The lisianthus seems to like some drought. I was watering it and it wasn't performing well, so a little neglect and viola!
ReplyDeleteWe've had a dry period too this summer. I was thrilled when it started pouring this afternoon. It didn't amount to much according to my rainguage, but the garden appreciated it nonetheless. :) My tomatoes are being a bit slow to ripen too, other than the cherry type which I've been snacking off for the past couple of days.
