SUPER SQUIRREL!!! The other morning I looked out the window and saw this gigantic, supersized squirrel sitting on the fence. My first thought was someone's exotic animal had escaped. This is the biggest squirrel I have ever seen. My hubbie and I couldn't figure out what the white was on his face. I pulled out the binoculars and discovered it was just white/gray hair. Maybe he's grandpa of the woods.We've lived here going on 3 years and this is the first time we have ever seen him.
We decided to watch him for a few minutes. Knowing squirrels, we figured some free entertainment was coming up and sure enough. Isn't amazing how they can just shimmy up a tiny metal pole with no problem. 
Can't you just hear his thoughts? "H'mm I wonder what's in here? Let me see if I can get a closer look."
I'd say he got a real close up view. Unfortunately for him our bird feeder is spring loaded. Everytime something heavy gets on it, it pulls the little covering down over the holes.In the end he gave up and went on to check out the neighbors feeders. He was lots of fun to watch.
Susie, you got some good pictures of the squirrels antics! They are so funny and entertaining to watch!

ReplyDeleteSusie, When I first saw that Squirrel, I thought it was a monkey!!!! ha ha ... He is a big one!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI need to buy that feeder --to keep the squirrels out of our bird food.
We have so much trouble with squirrels now... We didn't last year since the bluejays were chasing them away. This year, our jays just ignore them!!!!

My first thought, when I read your title, was that it had something to do with Becky! Ha! Then when I saw the picture, I thought it was a CAT. That's one fine squirrel.

Morning...I have 2 of those feeders and my intelligent squirrels learned to bend the leaves that cover the holes and get the seed out. Now it does take them longer but trust me they dont give up. I live on a wooded hill so I have my share of squirrels. Dont think I have seen one with white on his nose!

ReplyDeleteIsn't watching the antics of those fellows just too much fun. It is a good thing that we don't have to pay admission for the better things in life! Well unless you count the cost of your fancy bird feeder that made him a little crazy!

That is one big squirrel! I've been thinking of putting a corn feeder out for the squirrels here because they are so entertaining. We don't have any giant white-faced ones, though!

ReplyDeleteSusie, the squirrel is a crack-up. I'm lol at its maneuverability. Last summer we kept seeing all these partially eaten apples until finally we saw a squirrel attempting to carry one of the apples... they were just too large to carry off.
