On the Road Again

Well we just returned home this afternoon from taking mom back to AR. I miss her already. We had a great visit and now my house is quiet. On the way home yesterday we took a detour to the Memphis zoo. This was a horticulture exhibit they had that was so pretty. As we traveled thru the delta you can see the mighty Mississippi is still out of her banks a little. Luckily some of the farmers have been able to plant unlike a couple of weeks ago. This is a very young rice field. Sorry for the blurriness, it was raining and the picture was taken out of the window. See the levees in the field, that helps control water on the rice. This is a field of winter wheat that is about ready for harvesting. I loved looking across the field at all the colors. As we were driving along we came across a big touring bus pulling this small trailer. We're big Jimmy Buffet fans. It looked like a trailer full of merchandise. We weren't sure what was up with it but would like to have followed it wherever it went. Unfortunately we had to come on home. Oh well maybe next time.

  5. Susie, That is a great picture of you and your Mom. I know you miss her.

We haven't had any rain (other than sprinkles) all weekend. The rains went west of us ---so I'm sure you all drove through it...

I'm sure you enjoyed the horticulture exhibit at the Memphis Zoo. NEAT!!!

I like Jimmy Buffet also.. My fav is one with Alan Jackson (It's 5:00 Somewhere)...

Have a great evening --and Memorial Day..

    Hugs,

  10. We also enjoy the Arkansas scenery west of Memphis, even though it does seem flat compared to east Tennessee. It's too bad you didn't have time to follow the trailer -- it would have been interesting to see what was up.

  11. You and your mom look absolutely lovely! I can't imagine having to live so far away from my mom. When she was alive my mom and I always lived no farther than about forty minutes (except for college). It must really make your time together very very precious.

Got that soggy field feeling myself but hopefully this week of sunshine will finally cure it.

  13. Hi Susie, loved the pics--the one of yours with your Mom. And the views--- always love the views from distant lands. I think only a few states grow rice in your country?
The trailer looked interesting. And so colourful too! Thanks for including the photo of the Mississippi river. I hope you have a good week.

  18. That trailer looks like a party on wheels;) I've visited Mississippi several times but never been as far west as the rice growing delta.
