Hope you enjoyed the zoo. I haven't been to this zoo since the 60's. Needless to say, it's changed a good bit.

A Few Zoo Pictures
So I mentioned we stopped at the Memphis zoo taking mom home. I thought I would show a few of the animals. Hopefully, you won't get too bored.
I've never seen a white tiger before. He/she posed so perfectly that he/she reminded me of a stuffed animal.
They had two pandas on exhibit. I think these little guys are the cutest. They were both munching on bamboo. They must have some really strong teeth and jaws.
Now I didn't say they were the neatest eaters. This one looks like he's saying, "Do I have the life or what?" Sorry for the dimness of the picture, they were enclosed behind glass.
They had a nice area for the polar bears. I was hoping they would get in the water where you could see them up close. But instead they opted to play.
They had a small but nice aquarium. I enjoyed watching this polka-dotted fish as well as the lion fish(I think that's what it was called.).
I think this is the lion fish. So interesting to look at.
They also had a new bird exhibit this weekend. It was like we were walking around inside a cage full of parakeets. They were everywhere.
You could purchase these little feeders and the birds would hope down on the sticks while you were holding the feeder. This little birdie was about 2 inches from hubbies face and could have cared less.
They also had two beautiful bald eagles. One can certainly see why they are our national bird.
Hope you enjoyed the zoo. I haven't been to this zoo since the 60's. Needless to say, it's changed a good bit.

Hi Susie,
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post!!! I just love the white tiger and the Pandas! I always enjoyed going to the Memphis Zoo but I'm sure it has changed quite a bit since I was there. Looks like Hubbie is enjoying the birds, too!
That looks like a really nice zoo. We saw Pandas at the San Diego zoo this past summer and apparently there are hardly any zoos that have them. It's pretty neat to see them!
ReplyDeleteWe went to our zoo, Woodland Park Zoo, this weekend and they had new "display" similar to the parakeet one you saw. My cousin said she felt like we were in a giant birdcage. :)
I love seeing different zoos.
PS I love that "Stairway to Heaven" is playing on here, I love Led Zeppelin :)
You got some really good pictures! I saw a bald eagle once flying right above my vehicle and it was an AMAZING sight!!! They are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteIt's been a while since I was at the zoo too. I love the panda's eating habits!
ReplyDeletegreat photos...makes me want to go to the zoo...haven't been since my kids were in elementary school...it was always a yearly field trip...your husband looks like he is enjoying the birds...
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful animals. Those Pandas are so un-bear like. Hard to imagine they are related to the polar bears. I used to love the zoo but haven't been to one in years.

Hi Susie, What beautiful animals! The polka dot fish is a Clown Trigger Fish, we use to have a salt water tank and we had a Clown Trigger for years. They are beautiful fish! I haven't been to the zoo in years. Looks like you had a great time! Nancy
ReplyDeleteI've never been to the Memphis Zoo, but it looks like they have some great exhibits--not every zoo has a white tiger or pandas. Glad you enjoyed your trip home from your mother's and hope she gets to visit you again soon.
ReplyDeleteI am thankful for zoos, otherwise I would never get to see some of my favorite animals in real life. There is nothing more attractive than a tiger. They look so soft and cuddly, I just want to pet them and lean up against them. Good thing there is a fence and moat between myself and the ones at our local zoo.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the peek at one of your zoos, and yes zoos have changed quite a bit since the sixties eh?
Did the parakeet exhibit make you want to have some at home? They have unique personalities.
ReplyDeleteI love zoos it is very nice, all of the animals are cool, I wish I could have a white tiger, they are pretty. Thank you for sharing the pics.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great trip! I love zoos. I would love to work at one, well maybe for about 2 months.
ReplyDeleteOh Susie, I love the Zoo! Thanks for taking me along....
ReplyDeleteLoved going through the pics, Susie. The white tiger looks magnificent...I've never seen one. Aquqtic animals can be so unique. Thanks for sharing...loved the birdies too!
ReplyDeleteGreat zoo pictures. I had the privilege of seeing a panda in China -- they are fascinating to watch. Thanks for the picture of the white tiger.
ReplyDeleteIt is so fun when the birds come to eat out of your hand. I expected the pandas to be larger.

Deedee-No it didn't really make me want birds at home. Growing up we had one and I hated cleaning the cage.
ReplyDeleteHi Susie... Great pictures from the zoo. I never tire of seeing great pictures... Love the white tiger and of course, the pandas. CUTE!!!!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Betsy
What a nice exhibit. I haven't been to the zoo in years. My boys always liked the Monkeys. ;)
ReplyDeleteI love going to the zoo. Thanks for sharing these. Felt like I got to go along with you. The panda eating with the bamboo all over his stomach made me laugh. :D
ReplyDeleteI can't even remember the last time I went to the zoo. I think that polka dot fish is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteI love the zoo! My goal is to go to the san Diego Zoo someday.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your trip with us!
i thought for sure i left a comment on here the other day...we love to visit our zoo in nashville and the children really enjoy playing on the gigantic playground.
ReplyDeletewe used to have white tigers in the tampa zoo...they are so beautiful.
Wow!! You got some great photos!! Usually when we get to the zoo all of the animals are napping or way out yonder and not so kodak ready!
ReplyDeleteWe're off to our zoo next week and they have the parakeet exhibit going too!
Beautiful pictures! I really enjoyed this post. I have to go up to Memphis soon for work and will now make an effort to visit this zoo.
ReplyDeleteWasn't the weather beautiful today? Hope you were able to garden some!
