Saturday Scenes

This morning started at 5:45 a.m. when I got up to check the weather. I decided I wanted to run a race this a.m. and the forecast called for rain. It was a pleasant 62 degrees and cloudy but no rain. Yippee!!!

What's that you ask? How did I do?Not too bad for an old woman! And let me tell you this was a tough, tough course. I don't train on hills and guess what? Hill after hill after hill. Somehow between talking to God and to myself I made it thru. Not to brag but I was the sixth female to cross the line and yes there were more than 6 runners!

When I got home I needed to head immediately to the garden for chores.Remember these little pots? As you can see I planted rose colored million bells in the yellow, strawberries in the orange and an orange million bell in the green.The gaura is starting to open it's pretty pink flowers. I can see why they call this "whirling butterflies".I had to show this azalea again. It's just one big, puffy rose colored shrub that so far the heavy rains haven't destroyed. I have a grouping of three in the front of the house and I love them.These little cheddar pinks were planted late fall last year and are doing well this spring. I like the sweet smell they have.Then I wanted to show my snapdragons. They are just now starting to bloom. The color is a little more darker than the picture.

    Congrats on the race! I love your pots with the million bells. I have such good luck with MB here in GA. I have one clump of pinks and they smell a lot like cloves to me - very refreshing. Your snaps are so bright and pretty - that's something I have no luck with. Enjoy your day!

    Congrats on a race well run!!! I wish I had the discipline you have for running. Your garden is looking so pretty! I have high hopes that some new things will live here at the Quill :c) we will see...

    I am so glad you dropped in for the garden party. Perhaps when you are in town you can drop in for real!

    Congrats on your race. I am impressed. Your flowers are really pretty. Your garden is so much farther along than mine. I wont see snapdragons until June!

    Wow Susie...you go girl!! You must be so proud!! I think I would come home and collapse after running a race. Not you...you head right out to the garden!!?? It looks beautiful!!!

    Way to go, girl!!!!! The farthest I could run is from the living room to the kitchen, and that's only if I smell something burning.

    i have one of the hanging pots like that and its a great way to grow strawberries. I had never even considered it! But I think thats what I will do with mine now. Great idea!

    Way to go-congrats on your run! I have a tough enough time walking up hills. ha.

    The gaura is lovely; I've never planted any before, and had no idea the blooms looked like this.

    Good job! The hanging buckets are going to be beautiful when they fill in. I'm waiting on my haning baskets to fill in too!!

    Thanks for the visit this morning.
    Congrats on the award. I wouldn't even get two blocks running, even when I was fit, but of course, that's been a long time ago! LOL
    I love your flowers. I'm waiting for this miserable rain to stop long enough to actually do something in the yard, other than putting up landscape edging around the shrubs in front of the house and putting in lava rock.
